You could be surprised to find in just how many ways a spy camera can be useful in home security.

Simple cameras

These are relatively cheap and made for interior and exterior use. They are most easily installed using wireless technology, rather than by using cables which need to be concealed. Wireless also allows for easy repositioning of the cameras as the circumstances change. Systems allow for several camera to be input and recorded to a video recorder, and for output to either a television or computer. In a typical system cameras are motion activated, and record in color in daylight, and b/w at night, recording at 50 frames per sec, with the recordings divided between the cameras used.

Low priced system

Imagine a system of hidden cameras, linked to a recorder which operated along side a normal burglar alarm system. If the alarm system is activated by an intruder the alarm could be loud to disturb the thief, and get him to leave at once - he will leave but he will take something with him. If on the other hand a burglar is skilled enough to by-pass the alarm, he will be unaware that he is being recorded. The recordings may well be enough to identify the thief and get him arrested.

Medium priced system

As the above system, but with the more expensive link to a security agency or to the police. If the alarm system is activated by an intruder, a message is sent to the security agency or police station who can take immediate action. Again the alarm could be loud to disturb the thief and get him to leave at once. If the alarm is silent, there is then the possibility that the thief will be caught and will get nothing. This depends on the likely response time of the police. If the alarm is not set off due to the skill of the burglar, he will be unaware that he is being recorded. Again the recordings may well be enough to identify the thief.

An expensive system

In really expensive systems a visual link is sent to the security agency who will keep regular checks on your cameras. However, this interval might be too long to catch the swift thief, who is in and out quickly. In all cases you will have a recording of all actions within the range of your spy cameras, which may well provide enough evidence for an arrest to be made.

Unfortunately one does not always know who to trust. Many people may have access to your home, or some part of it. The baby sitter, cleaner, gardener, odd job man, even some of your friends. If there is some problem that needs sorting out, you have the chance of getting some visual evidence by turning on the system (minus the alarm ) while you are out.
